Light of Sun

Filed under: Rose of Sharon Paintings, for sale, summer plein air paintings — RGrantham @ 4:19 pm

The beauty never ends, the greetings are always new. Everyday the sun shines, every moment is unique.

Here is Light of the Sun, a beautiful, 8in x 10in oil painting of the sun getting ready to set as it dissolved the summer sky and shimmered it’s way through my rose of sharon.

original oil painting Light of the sun

This piece was painted entirely plein air, on site over a matter of days and many mosquito bitten hours. Those little pesks love dusk to come out and attack. Just so happens that is one of my favorite times to paint too.

It was a battle, but I won. winks.

I am very happy with this painting and it’s sister painting that will be finished soon.

It has been lovingly gifted and happily received.

Spring Poetry NFS Artist ’s Collection

Filed under: past works in pastel — RGrantham @ 11:10 am

Spring Poetry
18″ x 24″ Plein Air Pastel, May 7th 05

I asked for a flower, and God gave me a tree.
I asked for a bouquet and God gave me Spring.
As a child I asked for Love and God gave me a Mother.

Happy Mother’s Day!

This piece is absolutely one of my favorite pastel works from a few years ago and will stay in my collection.
I’ll never forget how warm and windy the day was. As I stood with my easel in the grass and my children sat on the lawn next to me with their pastels and sketch paper. Together we drew this gorgeous flowering crab apple tree on Mother’s Day.

While I was drawing I asked my son to run inside and grab a pencil and scrap piece of paper as the poem formed in my mind.

To all the Mother’s I know,
I celebrate you today for your incredible love you have for your children.

All the best today and always,
~Rebecca

New Year’s Roses

Filed under: Uncategorized — RGrantham @ 5:44 am

Good Morning & Happy New Year to you !!!

I want to share one more painting of roses that I created as a gift for the Holidays.

Here are New Year’s Roses.

Both of the paintings were painted mostly from imagination and some limited floral reference.

Both paintings are 16 x 20 inches oil on canvas.

It was refreshing to try something different, as you know 99% of my work has been outdoors onsite.

So with this experience I am going to again work from photo’s and imagination more often . ( especially since this morning’s temperature is only 1 degree, One! minus 15 with the windchill)

I am by no means abandoning plein air just using it as a spring board.

Where will my work go in this coming year?

I’m not sure, I’m on a journey and with each painting I learn more about myself as an artist.

I can say what will remain the same and that is my love of nature, my communion with God in Nature and sharing the beautiful moments that around us everyday with you.

I look forward to hearing from you on the new works as they are posted. Your feedback means very much to me.

I wish you all a most Beautiful New Year!

Live in the now, it’s all we have , we are not promised tomorrow.

With Love,

Rebecca
