Original Semi Abstract Fall Landscape Painting in Oil8″ x 10″unframed on primed 1/4″ board
What amazes me is how indelibly printed these moments are in my mind. Both the original inspiration from nature and me working to capture them.Granted I can’t recall every painting instantly that I’ve ever painted. But when I go through them in my mind, or from one of my lists I can most certainly remember where I was and what that moment down to the time of day and temperature and both what it was like to experience and to paint nearly everytime like magic. I’m sure you have memories that you can recall as fresh as when they happened too I would love to hear them.

Where Were You When The Sun SetPlein Air, Abstract, Impressionist, Triptych sunset painting in oil on mounted masonite boardeach panel is 12″ x 12″ x 1 3/4″ deep.
email me to purchase I love music, I grew up playing the flute for many years. I admire those who play. I still have my engraved, open hole, classic even though it is fondly tucked away. I will play it again. We only need some polishing.
When I paint it is like I hear nothing but the sound of the moment, the sound of a musical moment that I only want to allow to live on the surface in front of me.
This painting taught me that I need more brushes, two palettes and both my hands playing if I’m going to capture the sinking sun.
All the best,~Rebecca

I am happy to share with you that my Plein Air Puzzle has been accepted into the Art O Mat .
It took somewhat of a leap of faith completing the puzzle and then submitting the prototype. When this process should have been done in reverse .
My dear subscribers you know something the buyers won’t.In order for the puzzle block owners to know what the finished pieces look like they will have to come here to see where their block fits and the finished paintings. Now I’m looking forward to the fun of them checking and will be posting updates as soon as I know where the blocks will travel to.
I am going to be finishing the acetate wraps and info sheets for the blocks and sending them to Artists In Cellophane early next week.
This project has spurred some more puzzle ideas and I will keep you updated with the new works as they come.
My sunset triptych is on hold as the weather hasn’t cooperated with constant cold drizzle and overcast skies the past few days.
Am going out today to capture this foggy, muted, rainy Autumn Day.
All the best,~RebeccaRebecca Grantham.Com,

This Tree
4 piece original plein air oil on paneleach panel measures 12″ x 12″and they are mounted with painted edges 1 3/4″ deep
Despite a moment when I thought this piece was done and our mischievous 2 year old decided it needed a giant reddish brownish swash, all is well and fixed and this piece is now done.I love our little rascal but he gives new meaning to the terrible twos.We like to call him passionate. When he’s angry he curls his eyebrows and there is a huge wrinkle over his nose, but when he’s happy none of our kids squeeze their hugs any harder. So what’s next? I’ve got my sights set on creating a sunset triptych next and am waiting for the sun to ablidge. It’s overcast today but you never know until the last moment if the sun will come through. It often breaks through right before setting.

Yellow16″ x 20″Oil on canvas
Email me to purchase this original painting
This painting went through many transformations. It started out with a yellow and dark green background, but when I looked up yesterday and those yellow leaves were hanging brilliantly against the gorgeous blue sky I couldn’t resist.

I am very happy to present these two Original 53 piece Plein Air Puzzle Paintings created especially for the Art*O*Mat Project from a total of 53 wood blocks that make up two paintings for sale now through a cigarette vending machine that have been converted to vend art.Painted in oil, each block measures the same size as a cigarette box – 2 1/8″ by 3 3/8″, and each block is coded and signed.
I painted the first painting horizontal completely plein air from my flowering Rose of Sharon, and what’s funny is my two year old knocked over the blocks after the first painting was done but right before I coded them. It truly was a challenge putting them back together while the second was created from some photo reference as well as onsite studies during my Black-eyed Susan series.I am looking forward to finding out where these pieces go.
If you are one of the puzzle block owners let me say a big Thank you! for supporting art, artists and the art o mat, I look forward to and appreciate your feedback very much. Please leave a comment below or email [ ... ]
