Spring Poetry 18″ x 24″ Plein Air Pastel, May 7th 05 I asked for a flower, and God gave me a tree. I asked for a bouquet and God gave me Spring. As a child I asked for Love and God gave me a Mother. Happy Mother’s Day! This piece is absolutely one of my favorite pastel works from a few years ago and will stay in my collection. I’ll never forget how warm and windy the day was. As I stood with my easel in the grass and my children sat on the lawn next to me with their pastels and sketch paper. Together we drew this gorgeous flowering crab apple tree on Mother’s Day. While I was drawing I asked my son to run inside and grab a pencil and scrap piece of paper as the poem formed in my mind.
